By default, the filter only allows a single selection. There is a check box on the
filter itself labeled Select Multiple Items. Checking this box allows the user to
select multiple items at once, even if they are from different levels of the hierarchy.
Making multiple selections changes the display of the filter to (Multiple Items), but
there is no indication of the items that have been selected. The only way to discover
this is to open up the filter and look to see what is checked.
Multiple Dimensions, Subtotals, and Grand Totals
Adding multiple dimensions to either the rows or columns is simple. Checking the box
next to a dimension in the Field List adds it to the Row Labels box and immediately
adds it to the grid. If the user wants it on the columns instead of the rows, it can be

dragged from the Row Labels or, if the user hasn??™t checked the box, it can be dragged
directly from the Fields section and dropped in the Column Labels box.
Figure 9-10 shows the results of adding the Sales Territory Group attribute
hierarchy to the Row Labels. The product category is shown first, and then each
territory group is shown for that category. Not surprisingly, the order of the
dimensions in the row and columns boxes matters; if the user reverses the order of
the Sales Territory Group and the Product Model Categories, the grid will change
to show the territory group first, and under each territory group will be the product
categories.
