Removing the data before
saving the spreadsheet prevents users from ever seeing old data in a situation in
which the data cannot be refreshed.
The OLAP Server Formatting section determines whether or not formatting
options from the cube are honored when the data is rendered in Excel. Cube
developers have the option of setting a number of properties on cube data, including
the four shown here: Number Format, Font Style, Fill Color, and Text Color. If
these check boxes are selected, the data displayed in the PivotTable will use any
formatting for these properties that might have been specified in the cube.
The OLAP Drill Through section determines the maximum number of records
that will be returned by a drill through operation on a cube. Drill through is taking

a measure in a grid and asking for all the records in the cube that contribute to that
particular value. The challenge with drilling through is that users may not understand
what they are doing, and drilling through from a high level could return millions or
even billions of records. To prevent users from having to wait long periods of time
for the data, or possibly consume the available memory on their local machine, the
number of records returned for a drill through operation can be capped.
