Clicking on the PerformancePoint
menu will open the PerformancePoint ribbon within Excel 2007. The first step in
using the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel is to establish a connection with the
PPS Planning Server where the model information is stored. Clicking on the Connect
icon in the PerformancePoint ribbon will open the Configure PerformancePoint
Add-in for Excel dialog box. In the text box below the title PerformancePoint Server
system, enter http://
:46787/, which in our case will be http://
PerfPointServer:46787/, as shown in Figure 7-35. The Add to Favorites button can

be used to add the address to the Favorites: section, which will make it available to
the developer for later use.
The Form Templates that are available within the Planning Business Modeler
client tool are first created as Business Reports and later published as Form
Templates within the PPS Planning System. After connecting to the PPS Planning
Server from Excel, click on the New??¦ link under the Reports ribbon icon to create
a new business report. This will open the Choose Application dialog box. From the
drop-down list titled Application, choose the application where the business report
and form template are created. Choose the Budget application from this dropdown
list for the purpose of the examples in this chapter. Click OK to establish a
connection to the Budget application.
