Only the leaf-level
members of the Time dimension member set can be picked for the data entry period
start and end dates. This is another consideration in the selection of the appropriate
time member set in the model. In our example YQM member set, Months are the
leaf-level members. If the Planning applications within your corporation need a
different granularity of time for planning, budgeting, or forecasting purposes, the
Time dimension member set should be defined and selected accordingly within the
model. For the purpose of the examples in this chapter, the Time dimension member
January Year2008 is selected as the starting month which will be unlocked for
data entry for all the form assignments within this cycle. The dimension member
can be selected by checking the check box next to the appropriate Time dimension
member in the Select Member dialog box. Similarly, the Time dimension member
December Year2008 is selected as the ending month which will be unlocked for
data entry. The selection of January Year2008 and December Year2008 as the start
and end time members for the data entry scope means that all the cells that belong
to Time dimension members January 2008 through December 2008 are unlocked for
data entry within the form assignments for this cycle. This will be demonstrated later
in this chapter when we discuss the actual data entry and submission. The Scenario
dimension member that defines the unlocked cells for data entry is selected in a
similar manner.
