The predefined
dimensions can be modified or expanded to match the data structure, and naming
requirements of the model. By customizing predefined dimensions, and by adding
user-defined dimensions, the developer can build the dimension structure of the
application. The scope of customization for predefined dimensions is more restricted
than that for user-defined dimensions. There is no limit to the number of userdefined
dimensions that can be added to an application.
Time Dimension (Application Calendar)
Time is perhaps the most common way to view data in any organization. Therefore,
the Planning Business Modeler includes a Time dimension by default. The Time
dimension, also called the Application Calendar, is used for maintaining a common
time scale within an application. Time is so important that there is a wizard
dedicated to maintaining the Time dimension: the Application Calendar wizard.

The Time dimension often includes hundreds or even thousands of members based
on the range chosen at creation. A model may include multiple time hierarchies, each
of which is created as a member view.
Planning how to create your Time dimension is one of the most important
planning considerations you will make for your application, as all aspects of your
application refer to the Time dimension in one way or another. Care must be taken to
make sure that the Application Calendar is created to accurately match your business
processes, as it cannot be modified later without creating a new application, purging
the data, and then repopulating the data.
