A PerformancePoint Server 2007 Planning Server installation can have multiple
applications. New applications can be created from the applications management
page within the Planning Administration Console or from the Planning Business
Modeler, which is one of the client tools that described later in this chapter.
However, an existing application can be edited and managed only from the
applications management page within the Planning Administration Console. There
are also some advanced features of an application that can only be configured from
the Applications Management page within the Planning Administration Console.
Hence, it is recommended to create the initial application from the Planning
Administration Console as described next.
The second link on the left pane of the Planning Administration Console page is
called Applications. This link opens the Applications Management page. The only
option that is enabled in the Applications Management page of a freshly installed
Planning Server instance is the Create button, as shown in Figure 7-2. Clicking on
this button will bring up the Create Application dialog box. The explanation of each
field is given in Table 7-1.
