Clicking on
a member in the rows or columns shows a menu that drill down, drill up, expand,
show only, or hide. However, note that there are small down arrows next to row
and column members, as well as small up arrows above the row headers and next to
the column headers. These arrows allow for one-click drilling down or drilling up.
Figure 6-57 shows these arrows as well as the menu that appears if someone clicks
on a member.
The down arrows actually have a couple of options: they can either expand or drill
down, and this can be set by the user to perform one function or the other. This is
done by clicking on the Navigation tab in PAS. There are two buttons that allow the
user to choose the navigation mode: Drill Down mode and Expand mode. Clicking the
Drill Down mode makes the small down arrows act like a drill down; in other words,
Figure 6-57 A grid in the Standard client provides almost all the same features as the
Professional client, but many of the actions are performed in different ways.

the children will be shown but the parent will disappear. Clicking the Expand mode
will make the down arrow keep the parent on the screen and the children will appear
under that parent. Figure 6-57 shows these two buttons, along with the other buttons
on the Navigation tab, which duplicate those that appear on the pop-up menu. Being
able to configure the default for a click on one of the arrows is one advantage PAS
has over the Professional Desktop product, which does not allow users to make
Expand the default for a click.
